Cambodia Gambling Halls
April 20th, 2023 at 3:25There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall gaming is against the law. Eight gambling halls are situated in a relatively tiny space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in a prime destination, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of restrictions requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; although, funding sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 17:00, and though visas are allegedly needed to cross, there are ways around this, as is accurate of many borders.
The initial Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked bateau gambling hall, highlights 150 slots and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machine games and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the normal gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international resort and hotel complex that features a number of comforts in addition to the casino, which provides 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 tables.
